TODD ALBERT NIMS, director, writer and musician, was born in Dhahran, a multinational expatriate community within Saudi Arabia, where he studied and traveled the Middle East from an early age. Interest in world cultures prompted him to live with one of the last traditional Australian Aboriginal mobs, mix with the African Masai in Kenya and learn ancient traditions from the Kahunas of Kauai, Hawaii.

He attended University of Wollongong in Wollongong, Australia for Engineering & Cultural Studies and upon completion of his Communication degree from the University of Colorado, he worked in Hollywood for five years during which time he formed his own company, Aramco Brat Media, in 2005. It was in Hollywood where he drew upon his experiences as an expatriate to produce and direct his first feature film, HOME-The Aramco Brats' Story along with filmmakers Matthew Miller and Zachery Nims. The movie drew high praise from major media channels in the USA and Middle East such as the Wall Street Journal and Alarabiya’s show Good Morning Alarabiya. Its feature debut will be on MBC in late 2009.

Mr. Nims produced Tunes from the Dunes, a 19 track compilation album fully digital released in January, 2009 on which his poetry and music was published along-side the work of 14 other bands. During this same time, he produced, wrote and starred in “Cupilicious,” a Valentine musical for Stages Reparatory Theatre in Houston, TX.

Most recently upon his return to the Middle East, he directed the Saudi Arabian portion of “Smile on Arabia,” a documentary starring HBO’s Axis of Evil stand-up comedian, Ahmed Ahmed, due to hit festivals later this year and a TV pilot for one of Tupac Shakur’s Outlawz, rapper Napoleon. Currently, he is Co-writer and Director of ALMOST, an new and original TV comedy series on four Arab youth set in Riyadh marked for Middle Eastern broadcast next year.

Ali Kalthami

ali

ALI KALTHAMI, writer and artist, hails from the Azir Mountains of Southern Saudi Arabia. Growing up in Riyadh, his love affair with pop culture began when he learned to speak English through music and movies, leading him to a life in pursuit of pop brilliance. He spent his younger years escaping from the classroom through his drawings and tapping out the beatboxes he created with his brother. The limited professional opportunities for cultivating his creative passions, lead him to further developing himself on his own time in areas of dancing, drawing, music and writing. In other pursuits, Mr. Kalthami prides himself as having his finger on the pulse of his society. Perhaps that is why, after earning his Bachelors degree in Information Technology, he joined MBC group.

In the last year, Mr. Kalthami has worked on the Saudi Arabian portion of “Just like Us,” a documentary starring HBO’s Axis of Evil stand-up comedian, Ahmed Ahmed, due to hit festivals later this year and a TV pilot for one of Tupac Shakur’s Outlawz, rapper Napoleon. Currently, he is Co-writer and Assistant Director of ALMOST, a new and original TV comedy series on four Arab youth set in Riyadh marked for Middle Eastern broadcast next year.
